RIZALYN AND BEE is my take on the #peachtober art challenge on Instagram, created by Sha'an d'Anthes (@furrylittlepeach). For #peachtober 2023, I decided to have all thirty-one prompts tell one cohesive story, which really put the "challenge" in "art challenge"! After a ton of prep work (thumbnailing, character concepts, color scripting), I leapt into October with thirty-one illustrations carefully composed in my head.
The story that unfolded ended up following a young girl named Rizalyn and her best friend, Bee...who is a bee. Together, they set out on a journey to find a magic wand, all while running into giant bugs, stardusted rats, gardening tamaraws, and everything in between. A colorful, other-worldly adventure, RIZALYN AND BEE offers a magical little story sparked by the wonders of nature and the power of friendship.
